The poor old dog was resting on the road and I couldn't resist taking the shot.. I think it came out very well.

This year I had the chance to attend Al-Ain Aerobatic Show for the first time. For me, it was a chance to try out the true abilities of my Panasonic DMC-FZ5 which I owned for more than 3 years but never used it to its full extent, especially the 12X zoom feature with image stabilization.

The show was a success for sure. I knew that the moment I arrived to find out that the vast parking spaces were all full that the police had to block the entrances with their cars. We had to park in a sand space quite far and take a long walk.
Even though the show’s timings were 12 noon to 6pm, we didn’t want to attend all of it so we went at about 3:30 to catch up with the last 2 hours of it, and that alone was worth the trip.
The Saudi Hawks (official website is only Arabic) were one of the best displays. Those guys were amazing and their stunts were jaw-dropping. Their performance was praised by local newspapers.
The Scandinavian SkyCats were also breath-taking as the three girls perform acrobatics on the wings of the aircraft, even switching places between the two wings.
The Brotherhood of Destruction (B.O.D), lead by Mark Hager, performed amazing police-chase spectaculars, leaving the crowd feeling like they’re part of a Hollywood movie.
There was also an exciting display of (Paramotoring). This is actually very similar to (Paragliding), with the addition of a mounted propeller. That guy spent about 15 minutes hovering around the place and maintaining his altitude.
Al-Ain really needs more of these activities and events. It’s a genuinely beautiful city with greenery and fresh air that can attract people from all over the Middle East. I still remember when there was the annual Spring Festival at Hili Fun City. People used to flock in from all over the GCC countries. But this needs a post on its own that will be coming soon.
It’s been more than i year since i last posted anything on this blog. Been busy with work and life and honestly went lazy on the blogging thing. God bless facebook
Well now with economic slowdown, I seem to be spending less time working and can get more time dedicated to my life (and my blog). I hope I can get back to this and get regular on posting. So keep watching this area.
